video creation & editing
@arynCplays
i assembled and edited the audio and video content created by Aryn (pronounced “eh-RIN”) of @arynCplays. Aryn used Twitch as their broadcasting platform for live video game playing, and our content strategy was based on what had happened in the live broadcasts.
after the live broadcasts would end, Aryn and i would create a written strategy outlining how and where to cut the video, if additional audio (like voice overs or intro/outro music) needed to be recorded/found, and the general focus of the video depending on the platform of release—Aryn’s non-live broadcast repositories for Twitch videos were TikTok and YouTube.
below is Aryn’s run in Binding of Isaac: Repentance; it’s the exact same run, but edited separately, for TikTok and YouTube. here, Aryn plays as Bethany, and they find a special item that allows for some hilarious moments.
i downloaded the footage directly from Twitch, and then compiled and edited the video in Adobe Premiere Pro. i made additional graphics in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, and any voice over or audio work was recorded in my home studio, edited in Adobe Audition, then exported to Premiere Pro to be paired with the video component. i finalized and then exported the final product in Premiere Pro, and then upload would occur to the appropriate channel.

Aryn was also my client when they created their YouTube series called Meatless Mondays, on their @arynCcooks YouTube channel. creating, filming, and editing the audio and video content for Meatless Mondays was a more involved process than our Twitch endeavor.
first, we wrote down the production schedule two weeks in advance, so we could gather the necessary materials for each dish; essentially, we would pick a recipe from Aryn’s collection of vintage vegetarian/vegan cookbooks, plot out materials and time frames for material-gathering, production setup/tear down, making the dish, and then photographing the dish after. then, after working out the logistics, we would buy the materials, set up for filming and photography production, cook the dish (Aryn cooking and hosting/modeling, and me as both sous chef and videographer/producer), film and photograph it, and then eat it (the best part).
after production tear down—and dish washing—i would import the video and photographic content onto my computer from my camera using Adobe Lightroom Classic, scrub through to make sure all of the video and audio matched and was decent, and then begin editing in Premiere Pro. the editing process was more involved here, as well, as each step of the recipe required title cards with accurate measurements. additionally, Aryn had to narrate these videos, which required that we briefly write a script for Aryn’s actions in their video, and then record the voice over narration. i recorded Aryn’s voice over in Audition, which was exported to Premiere Pro after editing. after assembling the audio, video, and any graphics necessary (made in Photoshop or Illustrator), i uploaded the videos to Aryn’s YouTube channel, prepped for release that next Monday.
